In advance of an updated penalty and interest structure for past-due property, Washington State is offering a waiver of penalties for unclaimed property holders through its penalty and interest waiver program.
To help companies enroll in this program, avoid fines and penalties, and achieve compliance with Washington unclaimed property law, Keane is hosting its next Unclaimed Property Holder Seminar in Seattle on Thursday, May 18, 2017. The event will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Renaissance Seattle.
This complimentary seminar is designed to assist organizations in fulfilling their compliance obligations with Washington State Unclaimed Property Laws. The presentation will be led by Barbara Rice and Quinten Moore from Keane’s National Consulting & Advisory Services Group and feature a guest speaker from the Washington State Department of Revenue.
Discussions will include details on:
- Washington State unclaimed property laws
- The Washington State Unclaimed Property Waiver Program
- How to qualify
- How to avoid penalties
- Relevant property types and common reporting and remittance errors
- Suggested best practices and compliance tips
- Reporting and compliance issues unique to Washington
- Current compliance enforcement efforts and state resources
Why is this important to attend?
These discussions will help your organization ensure compliance in the 2017 reporting cycle, minimize the risk of an unclaimed property audit, and maximize the return of unclaimed property to the rightful owners.
The Washington State Unclaimed Property Holders Seminar is free of charge for up to three members of your company, and qualified attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 3 CPE credits.
